We hope you enjoy the digitised copies of cine films recorded in the sixties which we are able to share with you on this page.  They are gems, and we are so lucky to have been given access to them.  Just click on the links below, and enjoy!

This first film was taken in 1967 by Ian Davies, then a sixth-former approaching the end of his time at Harrow Weald.  The story of his re-discovery, and then with the help of Linda Salmon, nee Clements, 1961 the sharing of this wonderful film, was featured in News and Views Issue 43, variously across pp 4-8.  At an Annual Reunion, Robin Benton 1960, the technical person of this website, organised its inaugural showing, up in the Gallery, on a rolling 'this is where we came in' basis.  For 'our' era, that day, we made a particularly noisy audience, wowing and whooping as we spotted people and places, and laughed in recognition of the whole feel of those times.  Whatever your era, though, there will be something here for you.

Our second film maker is John Radley 1957.  You may have already watched his richly varied film on this site, and no doubt thoroughly enjoyed it; but John has now very kindly gone to the trouble of turning it into three - with nothing lost - and has named each to give you an idea of what to expect.  You will want to watch them over and over, as more of the detail comes out each time - as with all the films on this page of course.  There are cameo performances by many familiar faces, including that of our current Chair, who claims he was dragged into the goonish Silly Bits, when he was really just trying to get on with the serious business of homework and planning his future  - but who fits into it all like a glove, really!  Again, there is something here for everyone, and in the background to the 'silliness' is that world of streets and corners and buses and people and places we'd all forgotten about until there they are again, full colour, full action.

NB If you would like to see all three parts in one viewing, just click on 'The Weald Saga' link at the bottom of this list.

The next three were taken by F R Young, and feature the 2nd Harrow Weald Scout Group.  You will see lots of non-scouts too, in the building of the hut - which bordered both North and East Fields.  These are short but real gems.

And finally - at least for now - film of the summer 1961 Sports Day is provided by the editor, filmed by her father  (which explains the initial focus on the final of the 'broad jump' competition between Hilary Wheeler, Theresa Hickley, and said editor, Linda Jane, all 1960 vintage - Hilary won!) There's lots here - staff in abundance, including Mr Crowle-Ellis escorting the incoming new Head and his wife around an event that would shortly be his to oversee.  There is John Becker, with cup of tea and daughter, Shove with clipboard, some serious athletics  - including the seldom seen 'fast walk' - and a general feel of happy joint endeavour.
